Our teacher sent us home with a Soldering Kit from PLTW to make a Random Number Generator which would imitate a die. The kit had me solder 10 resistors, 7 diodes, 2 buttons, 3 capacitors, and 6 integrated circuit sockets. At first mine didn't because I put 74LS04N in 74L532N's socket and vice versa, then I noticed a bad solder joint and after that, it worked like a charm. I often applied too much solder, but overall I had fun.
